During the resumed installations of prepaid meters about two months ago with the claimed insufficient meters allocation to the community perpetrated the scam.
As result of the crazy bill , disconnections, face to face and phcn bill defaulter amongst tenants prompted many residents to reach out to the representatives of the phcn to procured the said insufficient meters directly.
According to kosofepost sources closed to two million naira was collected from the residents for the blinking device that ought to be free without the meters been installed and the subcontractor, technicians fronting for their boss’s collecting the money were immediately redeployed to other locations to prevent attacks.
The Mende, Maryland Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Manager and marketers who brought them allegedly claimed they don’t know the whereabout or address of the subcontractors handling the prepaid meters project anymore.
In a particular building eight (8) people paid, and another man reportedly paid for Five(5),a female business owner paid about 50,000.
According to a reliable source the woman is not asking for refund but her prepaid meter.
When individuals and group of residents protest becoming alarming, the phcn marketers collected the names of the victims whom they were allegedly introduced to the installer after some negotiations initially before the bubble bursted.
Efforts are currently ongoing with the Anthony Village divisional police headquarters to ascertain maybe the purported coordinated fraud has been reported.
