Knowing the important of information , the National orientation agency, UNICEF, child protection network and the Lagos state government organised 2 day’s workshop training on the role of communities on child’s protection system strengthening for the two Local government’s in Lagos state, Nigeria. As a pilot scheme.
The workshop which took place at the Bezer hotel,Otta Ogun state , comprises of four batches of participants. However, came to a successful conclusion with the 4th batch workshop which was held between August 14-15th.
Sequel to the increased reported case’s of child’s abuse; ranging from physical ,emotional, sexual,neglect and financial abuses. The child’s protection network in collaboration with the UNICEF, NOA and government had decided to embark on aggressive critical lives saving mission by upping the publicity and awareness campaign geared towards sensitization of the public’s at the grassroots that child’s abuse is a serious offence and the consequences attracts severe punishment.
The workshop which was attended by the community development association’s, and the community development committee representatives , educated the participants on when, whom, where and how to help a victimized child.
The facilitators emphasized that child’s protection is majorly the responsible of the parents, followed by the society, state and the international communities. Added” its everybody’s business to protect ones biological and non biological children’s.
Kosofepost reliably gathered that from the facilitators that the Lagos state government under the leadership of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode had earlier gave directives to the LGs/LCDAS to provide the required logistics for CPN coordinators to carry out the publicity and awareness campaign to in order to end violence against children’s in our society.
Efforts are currently ongoing by kosofepost to have an online interview with the kosofe LG coordinator of child protection network Mr. Rasheed Awofeso to shed more light on #EVAC mission and other related matters.
