In an online interview conducted by kosofepost on Sunday morning with the former coordinator to Kadiri Hamzat gubernatorial aspirant and the current Ward D kosofe APC organizing Secretary who also contested for APC councilor ship, revealed that he wasn’t aware of the decision to pick Gbenga David as the consensus candidate nor step-down for him, threw his weight behind the party councilor-ship candidate Hon. Idowu Oluloro. Merit as he is fondly called maintained that sofola’s is the best man for kosofe LG chairmanship added that the best of governor Akinwunmi Ambode performance are yet to come.
There was misconception that you step down for Gbenga David in the build up to the APC councillorship primaries. Whats your reaction to this?
Merit: Nothing of such nature, sure one person will have to be but it has to be done properly at the last meeting held at Otunba Alakija ’ house on 27 of April , 2017. The stakeholders in attendance said they will call us back up till now nobody did, I was waiting for the outcome of the elders meeting but its unfortunate that up till this moment nobody bothered.
Then, observing this what role did you played during the inconclusive councillorship primaries as one of the contender?
Merit: Thank you Sir, I met with Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim who said I should calm down that he is going to see to the matter, He too also worried.
Would it be right to say that both you and Solomon David never stepdown for any aspirants ?
Merit: I can’t speak for anybody .but I am telling you that there was no place where they call the three of us .I, myself ,Solomon David and Gbenga David together except that of 27 of April at Otunba Alakija’s house up till this moment I repeat.
As things are now is your interest still for a group within the party or For the party at large?
Merit: For the party Sir. I remain APC member and am going to work for my party APC.
Either by consensus, selection, imposition or proper primaries election a winner will always emerged. Therefore, are you ready to work for Hon. Oluloro Idowu the party councillorship flag bearer?
Merit: Sir , I have Oluloro stickers and postal with me as I speak to be pasted this morning that is to tell you my stand .Oluloro ni joooooo .Idowu nioooo.
Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s has being widely reported as a performing governor. What’s your take on this?
Merit: In the last two years , he has performed wonderfully well beyond expectations and I prayed that God Almighty will give him the courage to do more by His grace .Because it is the grace of God that is in him (Ambode) will take him to a greater height.
Every average Nigeria governors in their first term are always acting the same way ambode’s is currently doing. Don’t you think if given the 2nd term mandate and when reelected his performance tempo will drop drastically like others before him?
Merit: I want to tell you something the best of Ambode is yet to come. Olohun ko Ileri, period.
Hon. Babatunde sofola is the chairmanship candidate of your party for kosofe LG for the second term. Can you tell us few reasons why he should be reelected?
Merit: Firstly at the Apex body of the party where the directives says they should return him and 17 others I believe there must be a reason for that .if they have not performed there won’t be room for that .in my ward here I don’t need to go far, go to Ajao estate primary school blocks of classrooms was built the for pupils that alone is enough for me to say let him do it again not to talk of many projects he embarked on during his first term I think he deserved the second term.
Had it been you were given the party mandate and if elected one of your duties is to debate, amend and approve the annual budget of the local council. However, Today both the executive chairman and legislative arm’s has continued to make the council budget secret document rather than public document like FG budget. Do you think this is apt?
Merit: Anyway I have not been there so I can’t say anything about the budget. I will only know if I have my way there I will do everything in capacity in accordance with the law with the executive arm. Thank you.
