Following the publication of this interview *quality of teachers in our public schools are worrisome* It attracted comments, and contributions from the public worth sharing to the general public.
The leading respondent is founder of succour foundation Mr. Samuel Olanrewaju Adebayo;
“Honestly, many feel politics is not for the brilliant ones but only those who were drop out and are off low academic excellence. This is not so because any politician who wants to make impacts must be very intelligent and must be abreast of happenings around.
“As a politician, you have to read a lot about successful leaders. How they were able to impact their world, their weaknesses and achievements and then learn from them.
“It is really appalling today that politicians are viewed as louts. Most often than not, some politicians behave so. The decisions some politicians take when it comes to education are nothing to write home about. Even the way teachers are treated as if they are of no importance is really alarming.
“Surprisingly, the politicians that usually take such decisions if you look at them, are quite educated. They are not illiterates. You will then realise that it is all about PRIORITIES.
“Education is one of the fundamentals of my campaign as rooted in the SHEF (Succour for Health and Education Foundation), and it is an integral part. I think the whole thing bores down on the electorates. Whoever they want to be their leader, through their votes becomes their leader. Either educated or less educated. More so there are requirements for vying for various electoral posts as stipulated by INEC.”
“The fact is that even those at the helm of affairs at the LGEA themselves don’t know much about the post they are holding because they are not qualified but political and God fatherism appointees. So enjoy creative party like activities than class room debates actives of spoken and written words.
“Its a pity many teachers and their LGEA can not fluently dialogues in English language with parents and teachers then what do you expect from the pupils.
“Asking for my opinion to the LGEA, The director of Education Mr Sopeyin is an arrogant man that looks down on parent forum executives running the board as his personal office without courtesy for both staffs, visitor nor parents. That is why l will reserve my opinion to myself.
“They don’t have to boss us l am a parent with wards who studied in the British system and style of education and wanted my grandchildren to have and experience of the public school system whose product l was thinking the system is still same but meet so much disappointment everything is politicized politics. Professional field of academic should be left for academicians to manage their affairs. phonetics should be taught from nursery grade.
“Since many teachers and their LGEA are not sound in English language then we should expect poor literacy performance from our pupils.
“I’ve said earlier on that since many of our teachers are employed on the basis of “who you know” in this case, to achieve our goals or bring thing back to it’s normal self .All we need to do is to drop the “God fatherism” appointees and try to put the right person into the right post in order to achieve our aims and objective.”
