I have a very very predictable life and lifestyle. I work, work and work. I don’t do night clubs, attend very little or no social gatherings and can count the total number of my buddies on one hand.
I don’t smoke and drink only occasionally. I eat simple meals and seldom try anything new even when am out of the country.
If am not home then you can bet your last nickel am at work. Over ninety percent of my calls are work related. As the years rolled by, i seem to have lost my capacity and interest in developing and sustaining friendships. It’s strange how a once social freak like me now only read, watch news and write for leisure.
This is not the Tunde Jakande years back and people that know me will easily confirm. The new me surprises even me. I look at myself and now believe that if I can change so drastically, anyone even without prompting can change.
This is why we must identify those around us whom we prejudge because of their past actions or inactions. People truly do change and we must brake old perceptions we must learn to forgive, accept and embrace positive change in people. Let us be less quick to condemn and even slower to judge.
I think we should extend this to our leaders. We must re evaluate those we feel have wronged us as a nation if they show signs of remorse. People do change and we must learn to give second chances without the liability of reservation.
