The members of the Agboyi-Ketu CDA has commended the LCDA Chairman, Mayor Bamidele Osinowo for his kind gesture towards the victims of the inferno that engulfed the entire property of 48, Agboyi Road in the Alapere area of the LCDA.
The unfortunate incident which occurred during the night hours of Thursday 25th October, 2018, has so far claimed the lives of two (2) of the victims affected by the fire, with others still recuperating in hospitals. The wife of the landlord and the grandson have so far lost their lives to severe burns resulting from the fire outbreak. The entire edifice was gutted by the inferno which left virtually nothing for survivors to salvage from personal belongings, furniture, fittings, electronic gadgets and other assets.
The Chairman of the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Bamidele Osinowo on different occasion had earlier sent a team from the Local Council to condole with the family and access the extent of the damage. He did not only sympathized and condoled with residents of the building over their loss but also doled out substantial amount of cash to help cover the cost of rebuilding and care for those still recuperating in the hospital from burns.
Recounting the experience, a resident of the area narrated that the fire started at 8:15pm on Thursday, 25th October, with fire from a candlelight gathered to be responsible for the outbreak. And despite several efforts by members of the community to stop the spread of the fire before the arrival of the men of the Lagos State Fire Service, there was little they could do to stop the havoc caused.

The owner of the building, Alhaji Mustapha in particular appreciate the LCDA Chairman for his kind and thoughtful gesture and pray that God continue to bless his administration. In same vein, a youth leader in the community, Comrade Abdulwaheed Odunuga extends his appreciation remarks to Mayor Bamidele Osinowo and members of the he community for their timely intervention to support victims of the inferno and appeal. He also appeal to the incumbent Kosofe House of Representative member, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye who promised to provide oofing sheets and cash towards rebuilding the house for the septuagenarian to please to do as the landlord, members of his family and tenant have been sleeping in the mosque, churches and family member’s houses since the incident happened’
