We all know that most of the roads in Lagos are currently being stressed, with the dilapidated state being exposed due to the persistent rains but we also commend the initiative of the Lagos State Government for trying to provide some palliative works to ease the pain of the residents but the approach to this must be well planned, managed and executed considering all stakeholders.
What we see at Mile 12 in the early hours of the day was shameful display of work done in the dark by the wicked one. It got several commuters trapped at Mile 12 in a shock. It did not factor into plan what day of the week which could be done better on a weekend. It also did not consider the health of the road users as we have had records of those who had heart attack while trapped in an unexpected traffic. What if there was an emergency to save a life or rescue those trapped in fire mishap or collapsed building?
On getting to see the rehabilitation works done, it was a rude shock seeing a cemented job which does not look like what is going to stand the test of time.
The Works department should please always deploy their jobs accordingly considering all stakeholders.
