Seun Awosanya, A banker, former Scribe to late Olowolagba campaign organisation, member of All Progressives Congress( APC) a resident of Agboyi Ketu, Kosofe when interviewed by Kosofe Post on Mayor Dele oshinowo’s led administration two ( 2years) in office, LG autonomy , Constituency project funds amongst others issues.
KOSOFE POST: 2 years in office how would you rate the performance of Agboyi Ketu Lcda chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo?
Seun: He is better than the likes of his predecessor but he isn’t driving towards sustainable development and growth. Publicity is more than the actual job done. His administration is still below average as regards Sustainable growth and development. There is need for a scale of preference, the basic needs of citizens should drive the administration’s agenda & programs and when it does they don’t consider future generations. Instances :
Construction/renovation of some buildings in our 3 in 1 public school on Solomon street. A building was demolished and rebuilt which is a positive one, rather than raising them to story buildings, they retained the bungalows. The cost of roofing will be enough to deck them and at other times/administration continue the construction while this administration would have still achieved same purpose of the bungalow works and still consider future generations.
Consider the high rise estate in Ajelogo, are they masses friendly? How many of us can pay rent to stay in such? The resources are our commonwealth, yet we ain’t really benefiting!
As regards road construction, kudos to the administration but we deserve more.
KOSOFE POST: As a concerned stakeholder have you contacted the council chairman, Mayor Dele formally on these your observations?
Seun: The last time I was in his office, I was embarrassed and have no brainstorming session with him. No avenue/room for that. Tried sending him watsapp messages to no avail.
KOSOFE POST: Majority of the residents always pour encomium on him on his outstanding performance. Why are you’re not joining the wagon?
Seun: I’m different with better orientation. Those in the wagon are majorly politicians and others benefiting from Mayor’s administration. Some of them know the truth but can’t say it cox of the benefits they get. However, I’m a politician by birth but technocrat by person and most of them know me.
KOSOFE POST: Won’t your consistent criticism of his administration while others see him as the most performing chairman than his counterparts be construed to the past failure of your camp to clinch the council ticket in 2017 as the council chairman and non inclusion in his Kitchen cabinet ?
Seun: My criticism is a constructive one and without any epitome of bias. I’m only a concerned citizen that is eager for growth of my immediate community. Sincerely, this administration is better than the last one but we ain’t there yet. We can’t all be members of the kitchen room, it’s just for an all inclusive government where agenda and projects are masses oriented. (A symposium for intellects and people of honor be involved in brainstorming sessions to forge us all ahead)
KOSOFE POST: What’s your take on the Financial autonomy to the local councils and its impact to Agboyi ketu Lcda?
Seun: It’s a step in the right direction for thorough and sustainable developments to be met. Direct impacts will be felt by the constituents. Although there will need for close monitoring which ought to be as a conditional clause by FGN
KOSOFE POST: Daily Constituency Project Funds has continued to be a subject of debate amonsgt the locals ..Some Nigerians are of the opinion that the funds should be given to the local Government chairmen. Do you agree. If No! Why?
Seun: Yeah, I agree and buy to this. Chairmen are closer to the masses than Senators. Just that real follower ship need to be practiced to act as checks to the judicious utilization of the availed resources.
KOSOFE POST: How would you rate the performance of your local councils Legislative Arms in the last 2 years?
Seun: Compared to previous administration, will score a 60%. There is room for real performances within Agboyi Ketu LCDA.
KOSOFE POST: One good term as they say deserves another. Would you support Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s for second term should he declare to be on the March again?
Seun: Definitely being an APC member as well. Nevertheless, room should be left for purposeful brainstorming sessions to aid sustainable developments within the LCDA. We can sacrifice our brains to benefit us as a whole. No one is an island of knowledge, you know!
