JULY 30, is the global declared human trafficking day, celebrating this year event, the Nigerian Women Association Verona for women integration , Lagos Chapter in collaboration with the child Protection Network, sensitize the residents of Kosofe at a one day publicity and awareness campaign programmer tagged “Insight-Building Capacity to deal with Human Trafficking and Transit Routes in Nigeria, Italy, Sweden held yesterday at the Kosofe Local Government Council hall , along Ogudu road, Ojota Lagos.
The awareness programme to combat human trafficking was attended by critical stakeholders such as Nigeria police, Immigration, Nigeria Security Civil defense Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LSNC) ,Nigeria Women Association Verona (NWAV), Social Network of Nigeria, Lagos State Social Worker, International centre fro environment health and development, grace Spring rehabilitation home, Community Development committee( CDC), Child protection Network(CPN), Market Women and men, Traditional rulers, League of Imams and alfas, CAN representatives , Kosofe Legislative Arms Leader, Hon. Olumide Onayemi County and member of the House, Kosofe head of department of Women affairs and poverty Alleviation, Mrs . ogunsowobo respectively.
In his introduction speech the Kosofe Child protection Network (CPN) coordinator, Mr. Rasheed Awofeso” We don’t know where we are today. adding its a shame that where one of the antisocial problems dissolves is Nigeria. our society today experienced human trafficking in persons. You will all agree with me that it’s a scourge in our society as we speak.

It should be noted that the people that were trafficked are exposed to harsh condition due to insensitivity work of labor, sexual exploitation,HIV, Aids, anxiety, fear, trauma respectively are health issues victims passed through.
He charged the participants”As a stakeholder I seek your indulgence to contribute your quota in order to abate this activities of the selfish persons that are making financial gains from human trafficking.
He concluded his speech with a take home of ” When you see something, say something and do something” as call for action geared towards placing premium on lives and ending human trafficking locally and internationally.
The founder and the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Association Verona (NWAV), SW/DR. Ajibola Oluwakemi Victoria, Speech was delivered by Mrs. Blessing Uwandineke, explained the mission, Objectives and the action plan of the organization towards ending menace.

A documentary presentation of the” affected life “on the psychological impact of human trafficking and sex slavery worldwide. empowerment and intervention models was anchored by a representative of the grace Spring rehabilitation home. While Human rights lawyer, Barrister Ndidi Bowei, of International Center for environment health and development, dwell on legal angle on how the human trafficking menace can be curbed.

The participants were later divided into two groups of brainstorming session , where they proffer solutions and present them on how the publicity and awareness of combating human trafficking can be increased and how to help the social economic reintegration of Trafficking returnees victims in our locality respectively.
