…Speak against the evil around you in your little way
Some people even those i never met in person say, tjak you cannot save this country with all your talk and criticism. Where is fela? Beko? Gani or Solarin? These guys criticised and agitated a million times more than you probably ever will. Where are they now ? Is Nigeria better?
Oga if you cannot beat them join them abegi. Steal what you can because if you don’t, even your brother will steal your share and guess what? Society will recognise and celebrate him more. He will get more chieftaincy tittles and honorary degrees. So quit the long essay and reach out to those who can place you in the position to amaze wealth. Self preservation and that of your generation is the only logic for survival in Nigeria. They often tell me. Is this how you feel too guys?
I say to myself, did the loot give them happiness? Immuned them from insecurity ? Do they have separate electricity or drive on seperate roads?
I never preach against getting stupendously rich. I work so damn hard to make money too but must you impoverished the people because you want to acquire heaven while on earth?. Atleast we visit other countries and see for ourselves the level of development there. Did they ever have people that think the way we do? Does stolen wealth Immune one from the scorn of immigration officers at border posts in other countries? Can your wealth stop young men driven by poverty from embarking on suicidal trips to europe through the oceans ?Must we promote the ‘my brother can starve to death as long as i have more than enough for my family’ mentality?
So i ask did their loot save them? I mean leaders in the league of Abacha Babangida etc. Today, i get inspired whenever i drive and see the statue of Fela, Gani, Solarin and Beko. Speak against the evil around you in your little way, boldly. You owe your conscience that much. Cheers!
