– Angry mob defies search
[ EPE NEWS]Early today, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday morning raided the country home of the former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in Epe area of Lagos.
A top aide of the former Governor who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the raid with no disclosed reason for the act. The political skirmishes surrounding his denial of a second term and exclusion from the screened list of ministerial nominees filtered through the air as at the time of filling this report.
However, reports have it that the erstwhile Governor is out of the country while the search was going on.
The commission’s spokesman, Mr Tony Orilade, told newsmen that the operatives were in Ambode’s house as part of investigations probing into his alleged misappropriation and diversion of public fund worths 9.9m
The anti-graft agency had in a recent statement by Orilade announced the freezing of three banks accounts linked to Ambode which were allegedly used in the criminal act.
Meanwhile the aggrieved youths of the area in Epe protested against the action of the body with insinuation that attacks on him are one too many these recent times.
The atmosphere in Agric area of Epe was very hectic this morning as the mob were undoubtedly furious against the police and the EFCC officials.
They (EFCC officials) were totally denied access into the main building as they claimed that they had no right to enter into his residence. “Ambode is not a thief but Tinubu is the rouge and must be trailed by the EFCC” they claimed.
The protest was out of control as the group bashed the vehicle of the anti-graft body with stones which made the policemen shot into the air severally for easy escape from the scene.
