About 4 months ago, windstorms and heavy downpour across Kosofe earlier reportedly destroyed lives and properties also caused a huge damages to Olowoira Nursery and primary school, where large number of roofing sheets of the school were blown off and others .
Kosofe Post earlier gathered that the renovation will be carried out during the pupils long break. However, Upon resumption over a week the affected block still remains as it were. No philanthropist, NGOS, CBO, corporate organisations, SUBEB nor reported invervetion from the local council. LGEA Kosofe is the statutory administrating body for education in the whole of Kosofe LGA, Lagos State. When the LGEA social media handle admin was contacted told us to ask if the affected school forwarded any letter to SUBEB. Added that the same period the rain wreck havoc at Olowoira Nursery and Primary school. Many schools were also affected across the larger LGEA and the school based management committee (SMBC) swung into action and get their them fixed.

A source at the school under condition of anonymity when Kosofe Post visited the school said the Head teacher wasn’t around. However, disclosed that letter has been written to the state Universal Basic Education Board. Adding that hopefully when the recently appointed Subeb chairman,Mr. Alawiye King settles down they will give the school the required attention.

When contacted on the phone disclosed that Lagos Ministry of education had approved 2Million for the renovation. He added the cost of renovating the damaged school, an eyesore lavatory copiously visible to anyone stepping into the school as a welcome statue and others required huge amount.

Kosofe Post visit to the chairman’s office coincided with a moment of joy, where the Oyesanya’s and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Dolapo Bashru were doing baby naming ceremony according to a source within the council. Congratulations! However, the office of the Head of Public affairs Unit, Mr.Rabiu Abiodun Hassan, was then approached to avail us the local authority action on the Olowoira Nursery and Primary School. Rabiu, Kosofe Post 2018 award winning recipient assured that when he discussed with the head of education or the Executive Chairman, Oyesanya he will get back to us. Responding two days later, September 25, 2019, the council information manager Said:
“I have just spoken with the Executive Chairman now and he confirmed to me that our council will commence renovation of the classroom block in a few days time. He added that” the school management had written to the council for assistance and the letter is receiving necessary attention and process that will culminate in the approval and release of funds for the renovation work,” Rabiu Stated.
