The Executive Chairman, Agboyi Ketu Local Council, Mayor Dele Oshinowo commissioned 5 transformers today in Agboyi Ketu Lcda, Kosofe , Area of Lagos State.
Mayor Dele, explained that the commissioning and installation of the 5 units of 500KVA Transformers for onward distributions to the community, was part of the effort by the present local authority to ameliorate the challenges encountered in supply of power across the council area.
At the commissioning of the transformer in Agboyi Ketu today, in his speech Mayor Dele said, “ The purpose behind the gesture is to rescue our communities from recurrent blackout being experienced over the years as a result of load shedding, which has affected businesses, and productivity negatively.”
“Likewise , it is our firm believe that the distribution of these transformers will improve power supply and boost economic activities of our local council, thereby heralding a healthy Internally Generated Revenue regime in our LCDA.”
“In view of this economic transformation to light up businesses in our domain, let me say unequivocally that the LCDA will supervise the installation of the equipment in the various communities they are to be installed.”
“I urge the beneficial communities to take total ownership in a bid to safeguard and protect the equipment from vandalization and theft,” Mayor implored the community.
Also speaking in Agboyi ketu, Kosofe, Lagos State Commissioner Energy and Natural Resources, Hon. Lere Odusote, ably represented by the Ministry permanent secretary, Mr Mustapha Abdul-Ahmed Olorunfemi, thanked Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his kind gesture. He noted that the Ministry is read to partner and make sure that transformers been donated by the council chairman will be put to use with the support of the ministry.
“We have over 13,000 kilometers covered under our light up Lagos with about 36,000 poles and we are hoping to do more”
Adding that ” Provision of energy is part of Gov. Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu THEMES agenda in making Lagos State 21st
“We are coming up with a set of package in partnership with Ikeja Distribution and Eko Distribution coys to make sure we
strengthen distribution within Lagos state. So that, we can achieve minimum of 22 hours power supply in Lagos,” Honorable commissioner said.
“I don’t want to preempt the excellency, they are currently working on a policy before the end of the year it will be out”
“We will make sure that before the end of this administration you will see substantial progress in power supply in Lagos state, He added.
On his part, the representative of Ikeja Electric, Mr. Olarewaju Yusuf commended the local council for procuring an efficient transformer, affirming that the five transformers are of the highest quality.
He further described the LCDA’s gesture as a ‘helping hand to support Ikeja Electric’, pledging that the power firm will work with the local council to ensure speedy installation.
Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Otunba (Mrs) Yetunde Arobieke commended the council chairman for aligning his blueprints with the plans and policies of the Sanwo-Olu administration in order to develop the state.
The chairman of Agboyi Ketu Community Development Committee (CDC) Elder Raphael O. Ajayi on half of Agboyi Ketu community thanked the administration of Agboyi Ketu Lcda led by Mayor Dele Oshinowo for showing sympathy and empathy to the good people of Agboyi Ketu while Ikeja Electricity Distribution company failed to provide the transformers as and when due.
in his response to Kosofe Post correspondents at the event he said: “In terms of our needs the chairman has been answering our calls. For example, You know electricity is one of the key pillar of developments because average traders wants to use electricity to sell sachet, bottle water, and minerals coupled with other small scale business they need light to survive.”
“Even after the day work you need to have a very good sleep. So, he has brought transformers to us today is a big fulfilment. We are highly fulfilled and appreciative of what he has done for us.”
Speaking further On maintenance and prevention vandalisation he said” We have highly effective CDA’s at locations the transformers will be installed. The community Devpt. Associations are very effective they know the problem of the community. so that of the transformers is a special case.”
Elder Ajayi noted further “We have various committees that looks into our electrical problems, We are assuring that all the transformers will taken care”.
Also, speaking further to Kosofe Post correspondents at the commissioning event the council Boss said” On assumption of my office we had a lots of complains about load shedding . some communities don’t have light for a period of 1 to 2 years, this actually gave me alot of concerns. I took it upon myself to procure about 10 transformers.
We have about 10 communities in need of transformers. We decided to do it in phases. In Phase 1, we procure 5 units. So that , it will help in improving in the distribution of electricity. Consequently, We chose the communities that really needed the transformers that’s what triggers today’s developments.
Adding that” the community should take ownership of the transformers from vandalization. We have seen cases of several transformers being tempered with that caught down line the lifespan such of transformers . The community should secure and protect the transformers as its their life,” Mayor Dele implored the various communities.
He assured further that the remaining 5 communities will get their transformers first quarter of 2020.
The five communities that benefited from transformers distribution of includes: New Odo-Ogun CDA, Ajegunle, Thomas Laniyan CDA, Ajegunle, Oko- Agbon CDA, Agboyi 1, Araromi CDA, Ajelogo, and Ajegunle CDA, Ajegunle respectively.
The commissioning program held at the Council Headquarters was graced by top dignitaries, which includes Alaketu of Ketu, Oba Isiaka Adio Oyero balogun, Hon. Tunde Braimoh, Otunba (Mrs) Yetunde Arobieke, Hon. Abiodun Akhigbe.
Others includes: SLG Kosofe LG, Hon. Abayomi Ologbonri , Hon. Musiliu Aigoro, Hon. Olayinka Rabiu, Oba Elect Agboyi land HRM. Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, IKEDC, EKODC, Lanre Fatunla, representatives of Lagos State Commissioner for energy and mineral resources amongst others
