On Monday morning this week, Hundreds Motorcycle Operators; commercial motorcycles inside out Agboyi Ketu , Kosofe were impounded by the Lagos State task Enforcement Unit.
Many passerbys passing through Ikorodu road would have thought that those plying restricted routes, highway along Ojota Ketu Mile 12 axiz , Owode Onirin Ogolonto axis, Agri garage axis were the ones impounded. However, multiple eyewitness accounts disclosed to Kosofepost that people were arrested and Okada were picked up at were they parked.
Below are the reaction of of Kosofe residents over the development.

it would have been better if govt can do buy- back.collect the bike and give them other items that can be structured in a way to empower them. What will happened to the seized bike forgetting that the victims may likely increase the problems of existing social problems.
Its unfortunate that most bike riders are victims of teeming unemployment saga.
Most passengers of bike are car owners who can no longer keep cost of maintenance due to bad road.
I advocate for corrective measures rather than punitive.

Its an established fact that the state has traffic guidelines for operators of Okada,Marwa and buses, even cars. The problem that brought about the arrest has to do with both implementation and compliance to these guidelines and rules.
First, How well and sincere are the state agencies with the responsibility to implement these guidelines doing their work?
Secondly ,Is there any serious collaboration between the government agencies, NURTW, TOWAN and other association and operators? If there is any, does it work? Is there sanction from the government against unions and associations or are they above the laws?
With my little research, there are so many issues that needs attentions !
I have a proposal for the state in respect of regulation of the operators.
Kosofe Post, thank you for this piece ( 12 arrested, as protesters attempt to burn police station in Lagos) Please find out the routes that the riders have been warned from plying and get a second opinion from the riders whose bikes were arrested if they were actually plying those routes.

The reason for requesting that this step is taken is because I personally know someone that was literally packed waiting for their passengers at designated bus stops at Abule Egba axis who were tear-gased by so called task forces before whisking away their bikes.
The claim that the riders are offenders are not always true. Also, monitor the collection of those bikes, the highest bidders or the people who know people in government secure their bikes afterwards. If you go down to the Abule Egba area I mentioned, areas where riders have been restricted, lots of them still ply the routes with no arrests because they know their way.
