I reall sometimes ago during the build up to the 2019 Presidential elections, while answering a question, the media aide to the President Mr Adesina had said though the Presidency takes seriously, negative comments and opinions in the social media, these however do not represent the true feelings and sentiments of the majority of Nigerians.
The common man he insisted, love the President and they are rooting for him. He was proved right because despite the negative campaigns in the new media, the President was re elected overwhelmingly
So, we may rant, criticise and release venom through our writings and uploaded videos about the activities of this administration in social nedia but the bitter truth is those in power just dont care much. They believe it is the rantings of a frustrated minority afterall in a democracy the minority should be allowed to have their say .
However, i am a bit confused when charges like cyber stalking and a proposed social media regulation bill begins to gain grounds. Cant we be allowed (minority) to continue to rant in peace?
Cant we the so called minority be encouraged to pour out our dis illusionment about this country and why things are not working in peace since the majority already had their way?
Majority of Nigerians do not have access to the internet anyway. Just let us be until a time when social media will be able to bring down a non-perforning government.
