“It is mandatory in a democratic setting for section of group of communities to be organized and represented in a stakeholder’s forum to suggest their need for the consideration of a budget”. This is a statement made by Hon. Saliu Adeniyi, the Executive Chairman Eredo LCDA, at the stakeholders’ forum for the presentation of year 2020 budget held on Thursday 19th December, 2019, at the council premises.
Hon. Saliu gave thanks to the Almighty for His sustainable success on his administration since inception and appreciated the good people of Eredo for their spirited efforts at working together to achieve more with limited resources in developing the communities.
The coucil chairman highlighted his laudable and tremendous achievements for the period of two years in areas such as health, works and infrastructure, environment, technology, education, agriculture women affairs and poverty alleviation, staff welfare and internal security.
He also spoke about the developmental programmes and projects slated for the year 2020 such as the rehabilitation of Eredo PHC Centre, Ilara, the reactivation of Igboye water works station, the construction of Pobo market drainage, the provision of more lock-up shops and a host of others.
“All these developmental projects may not be achieved if we fail to do the needful by paying our taxes and levies to council. I hereby urge you all to please pay your levies, fees and charges to enable us enjoy all and more dividends of democracy” he appealed.
The Member Lagos State House of Assembly,Epe Constituency ll, Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester commended Eredo Council Boss, Hon Saliu for his outstansing performance, being one of the kind in the history of Eredo and Lagos state at large.
Hon. Ogunkelu encouraged the council boss to continue the good works he has started in order to enable him remain in power till 2023.
The Honorable Member however promised that he’ll personally look into the road linking Epe to Ogun state which has been abandoned for a while and ensure the continuity of good governance in the EredoLCDA.
In an interview with Mrs Oladunjoye Stella, the Apex Chief Nursing Officer Epe Local Government, she said the stakeholders’ forum is indeed a brilliant idea in such that the people are fully involved in community affairs,
She rated the Chairman above average considering what he has achieved so far within a period of two years.
“There is always a room for improvement and I will like the chairman to put in place infrastructures that will create employment for the youths to keep them occupied and away from social vices” she concluded.
Yeye Olayinka Olusanya, supervisor for budget spoke on the administration’s achievements so far. She mentioned that the youth empowerment which was held at NOIC, Gbagada to train youths on different vocations of their choice, which lasted for six months is still a talk of the town. She expressed satisfaction on how those youths have been trained and empowered to become useful to the entire community.
She further noted that all ongoing projects will be completed and urged the stakeholders to feel free to list out the needs of their communities for immediate solution.
Ward chairmen, CDA chairmen, market women and traditional leaders were also given opportinities to make requests on the areas they need the Council’s urgent attention.
Mr Adebanjo Sheriff, the chairman ward K1 submitted that the chairman of the council should provide chairs for the pupils of U. P. E Primary at Odogbawojo, look into flood issue at Itale, Odoragunshin, clearing of gutters as well as the light up Eredo programme to be extended to Mojoda, Odogbawojo and its environs.
The chairman, ward J1 Alhaji Yesiru Adekoya requested for a town hall to be built in Ibonwon and a reconstruction of the road linking Ajegunle to Ilara. He further requested that water be made available at the health center in Ibonwon and rehabilitation of street lights which have been damaged.
