Many of us are as lazy to read as we are also in paying attention to statistics and its implication. I really do think if we cherish self preservation which is not limited only to chasing money, we must take figures seriously.
Statistics say one out of every three adults in Nigeria will eventually develop diabetes in their life time.
We all know the number one cause of diabetes is sugar dont we?
Not every one drinks beer but most people drink cocacola!
In a hot climate like Nigeria, how many of us can actually resist the temptation of grabing a bottle of cocacola espercially when it is ice cold and hawked in a notorious traffic just as it is done
More in home
Many of us end up drinking an average of two bottles a day sometimes unconciously. That is 44 cubes of raw sugar straight into our system.
As we get older, the effects of pumping so much sugar begins to take its toll on us. Diabetes is the intro to ill health as it usually kick start multiple health challenges. We beging to spend money on medication till we die as it usually is not curable completely.
If government really want to reduce pressure on the amount it spends on providing health facilities, then legislating manufacturers of soft drinks like cocacola and others in the family should be adopted. The taxes they pay is not worth the pressure their products put on government medical facilities.
These drinks have absolutely no positives to our bodies beyond satisfying our thirst. It has gotten so bad that rather than drink water we feel obliged to take soft drinks(I really dont know why they are called soft anyway) with our favourite foods like jollof rice, amala n ewedu etc.
The huge budget by these companies on marketing and advertising have polluted of minds into believing that the marriage between thirst and coke is made in heaven. It is hell!
If government cannot help us through regulation and legislation, we must help ourselves. This deceit has gone on for half a century entrapping and killing many.
Kindly tell your friends, neighbours, relatives to tell their friends neighbours and relatives we can actually chill out without cocacola and her brothers!
