- 18 active political parties should explore further merger
It’s highly disturbing in nature that some of the 74 political parties deregistered only registered to create confusion, get election grants and political bargaining.
The major political parties in Nigeria; All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftains are some of the brains behind those mushrooms parties unnecessarily overstressing the electoral process in their desperation to settle political differences.
The long over due INEC action is commendable and laudable as it’s geared towards bringing the required level of sanity into the electoral system.
Without INEC intervention one would have thought the mushrooms parties would have come together and embrace merger or aligned with either APC or PDP. Sadly, even those without party structure, a councilor all claimed to be the party to beat during electioneering processes hiding under constitution lacuna to distract the public and the real contenders.
Though under The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria they instituted legal action at the Federal High Court by 33 political Parties, who are members of the Council in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/444/2019 filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja seeking
amongst other things, an Order restraining the Independent National

However, it’s their fundamental rights . Nevertheless, INEC, Healthy electoral saving action is one of the best way to go for the interest of Nigerians. The 74 deregistered political parties if they truly have strength should go and join one of the following parties:

Our findings over the years revealed that problems of political system in Nigeria is not the name or logo of the political parties but membership of those organization that typical Nigeria blood runs in them.
These parties same of the same and more of the same. However, their approaches to governance with a slight difference.
In terms of corruption one will loot the treasury in the broad day light, the other ones in the thick of the night while everyone is snoring and sleeping. So, nothing truly shows the 74 sacked political parties will be better than APC or PDP if it’s entrusted with the public Mandate.
Consequently, INEC, Healthy electoral saving action must be seen as for the interest of Nigerians. The 74 deregistered political parties if they have the strength should go and join one of these following successful parties; Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance and Allied Peoples Movement.
Others are Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, Peoples Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
However, This is not to say that the remaining lucky parties without INEC future intervention shouldn’t look for a way to further bring their numbers downward and embrace internal democracy currently lacking in most of our political parties as seen over the years.
