The Lagos State Government announced plans in May 2017 to provide multiple lay-bys in Ketu area of Lagos in order to provide an enduring solution to the perennial traffic jam experienced by motorists along Ikorodu Road during peak periods.
The project, which will comprise three-lane lay-bys on each side of the expressway, a shopping mall and car park, will be executed by Fountain Construction Company (FCC) Ltd within an estimated time-frame of 12 months.
However, the awarded in June 2017 to be completed in May 2018 according to Fountain Construction Company signpost by Ikosi Junction on Ikorodu has since been abandoned.
When members of the National Road Union Transportation Workers (NURTW) were contacted they declined to speak on the dévelopment.
The test message sent to the Lawmaker representing Kosofe ll, Chairman; House Committee on Information and Strategy , Hon. Tunde Braimoh over the abandoned project five days ago was yet to be replied as at the time of posting this report.
Efforts are still ongoing to contact FCC and the supervising Ministry; Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State.
Other successfully completed laybys in Kosofe under administration of the Former Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode’s include : Oworonshoki, Ogudu,Ifako, Alapere and Ketu inward mile 12. However, the Multi purpose layby and market place beside Ketu Police station has been long abandoned.
