The current menaces of our society are hydra headed but all security and economy related Problems of brigandage, banditry, kidnapping, cultism, robbery, rape, internet and other frauds etc. all emanate from abject and arrant moral decadence.
The problems are epitomizing systemic failures which result from the failure of the family , mentors and tutors to inculcate the right values in our wards , students and children.
A society that honors and celebrates wealth not minding how it’s derived or achieved is just a harbinger or the breeding place of nefarious crimes
Ask a ten -year old today what his /her future ambitions and you would be flabbergasted at the response.
“Fantastic and dreamery heights, undue desires to live ostentatious lifestyles without working for them , have taken away the dignity of education, skill acquisition , morality , fraternity, decency and even labor. All and sundry now crave wealth without toil,” the Lawmaker highlighted.
Everyone wants to savor omelette without breaking the egg, Friendship, family ties , marriages , business associations and other socio- economic relationships have all been endangered and almost extinct.
He said “In the premises therefore the mitigating measure of the council to stem the morbid tide of negative orientation, warped inculcation, wrong direction, indoctrination , moral depravity , and bad inclination is a welcome development portending great expectations.
Truancy , absenteeism, gangsterism , substance abuse and other infectious habits are the breeding places of the crimes and scourges afflicting us today. A stitch in time saves nine, Hon. Tunde Braimoh stated.
