Residents of Eruwen, Grammar School Ikorodu axis, Lagos East, have lamented poor electricity supply in their community without any scientific proven explaination by the Ayangburen Undertaken of the Ikeja Electricity disco.
Despite the load shedding over the last 5 years without improvement in Electricity supply to the affected Communities from an average daily to 5hours. During the lockdown it has been completely blackout; this recently attracted the anger of residents who chased out away IKEDC staffs away when they attempted their traditional fuse removal in the name of power shedding and break down of transformer and faulty poles among others.
Professional stylists, Bravo said”My opinion concerning power supply in my area at chairman junction, erunwen, ikorodu.shortly this people are just taking us for granted they we bring the light before lockdown by 2 to 6 sometimes till 7 they take it, they bring it at mid-night around 2 am.sometimes they we not even bring it at all and at the end of the month they we send us crazy bill to pay for what we do even use.now during this covid 19 lockdown has started, we don’t see the light at all, what they do now is just flashing the light,at the end of the month they we tell us come and pay for what we don’t use. imagine the style of given us the light is affecting my business seriously the money I make a day the half of it we go for fuel.
This week it also attracted protests from the residents of the affected axis at grammar school.
Interview with Marine Surveyor Professional, Mr. Olamilekan Omitogun said” Power supply to Erunwen was average before but totally bad during lockdown. We are in darkness for some days now. We can not pump water, security lights off and the refrigerators are idle.
A businessman, Mr. Opeyemi Lambo in his reaction said “Power supply from IKEDC in erunwen ikorodu in saying the least was poor before the lockdown and has been comatose during the lockdown. A situation whereby we have light for less than four hours in a day and we have not had it at all in 3days is very appalling, yet they will bring their estimated bill in the range of N8,000 at the end, just as we have just been given one of N8,000 yesterday.
Another resident Otunba Rasaq Ramb Ambali posited that” Before covid-19 pandemic we hardly have light from 12AM till &.30 Am. Three days on, one day off despite this we pay estimated bills to the extent March bill has been sent.
During Covid19 at home we have no light all, over a week now they on this morning for 5Minutes and off immediately.
Chief Ojasugbo A. B in his response said” Ikedc Ayangburen Undertaken are advanced corona virus before the pandemic they have never been responsible and responsive to the plight of grammar school axis residents despite no provisions cushion the effects of the lockdown the little foodstuffs we able to buy has been destroyed to erratic power supply.
Go inside grammar school nobody will give IKEDC 2 star rating due to poor services; if it’s not transformer, it will be faulty poles or cable respectively.
To leave this leave in this you have spend additional ₦18,000 to fuel your generating set for at least 5 hours daily in addition to their estimated crazy bills.
The poor power supply has increased the rate of robbery attacks in the community and if the power is not restored it will endanger more lives than envisaged amid lockdown.
Both Calls and messages sent to Mr. Osamwonyi Ekhosuehi, Manager Ayangburen Undertaken Ikorodu wash not return; an inquiry tweet to @IKEDC Twitter handle was yet to be replied as at the time of posting this report.
