he last weekend election in Edo state has further confirmed that EdoNoBeLagos as strongly echoed by the people of Edo state following the political interference of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu dictating candidate to be voted for.
Godfather’s syndrome and isolation of Edo politics started during the 8years reign of the former Governor of Edo state, Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, When he put all the negative Godfather’s retarding the growth and
development of the state at expense of the masses, where they truly belong to enable him save the state treasury.
However, the unceremonious sacked National Chairman of APC, Adams was quick to forget as he aggressively attempted to imposed himself as another brand-new Edo godfather which later caused a big Gulf War between Ex-Labour leader, Adams, and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
This forced Obaseki out of APC to team up with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Had it been the Godfather of Lagos Politics, Tinubu called Oshiomhole to order in good time; Obaseki wouldn’t have left the party after he paid him a courtesy visit at his Bourdillon residence few months ago.
Few days to Edo election, Jagaban as Tinubu is fondly called took his anger against obaseki to the next level by making statement that the clip went viral asking the people of Edo state not to vote for Godwin.
He claimed Obaseki’s was no longer a democrat, he was not part of the struggle that enshrined democracy will enjoy in Nigeria today.
In the Video, He appealed for votes for his party, APC candidate, Pastor Ize Iyamu.
In a bold counter statement the people of Edo state quickly responded with a hashtag EdoNoBeLagos.
#EdoNoBeLagos summarily means if the supposed indigenes, Smart, intelligent, educated people of Lagos State has been pocketed by Ashiwaju Tinubu for over 21 years such would not be allowed in Edo. And this
was confirmed loud and clear on Saturday election with the massive votes that return Obaseki for second time, and rejected the Godfather’s anointed candidate, Pastor Ize Iyamu at the poll.
Another version of EdoNoBeLagos is Ibile Eko forum or Lagos4Lagos, how long this group that earlier started contact and mobilization, massive publicity and awareness campaign will go. It’s only time that will tell.
