The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo said his administration is trying their best to subdue the rate of flooding in Agboyi- Ketu in other not to have people moving out of their various houses during raining season by clean and clearing refuges in their drainages and canals.

In his words, Mayor Dele stated that flooding generally in Lagos State is a big problem and the State government is also trying to solve the puzzle behind this menace – they are working out a master plan for that.
“We have started sensitizing people against the end result of dumping refuse into a canal; which will always result to flooding. Another step we are taking is to give people token when they report people who are violating the rules and regulations guiding the avoidance of flooding.”
“It should be noted that this is highly capital inventive and the State government has been contacted to offer their hands of help. We are open to different approaches towards solving the issue of flooding in Agboyi-Ketu.”
Going further, Mayor Dele stated that while his administration came on board the first thing they embarked on is looking at all the accessed roads in Agbo-Eketu.“We started with materials; also doing cut- and fill and asphalting it. But after a while, we noticed that that it was not durable, then we began to do full- surfacing. We’ve asphalted some roads like Fasanya and all others. We’ve maintained, Kazeem Street, Oriola and others too. We have done Adisa Akintoye, and many. But the problem is “lack of fund”. Our people don’t want to pay tax. We are not getting much from our revenue. This revenue can’t even construct a 350 meter road unless we work without State’s rate which we must make the contractors understand.” Mayor said.
Mayor Dele also disclosed his administration ambition of improving the health sector, and sporting activities while also trying to create an everlasting impacts in the minds of people of Agboyi-Ketu.

He also stated that his administration has been getting financial backing from Federal Account Allocation committee (FAAC) and also Joint Account Allocation committee (JAAC).
“JAAC is in our constitution. Before Federal Government can stop allocation passing through the state government, they have to delete it.” He stated.
