LASCOSTA DAY: Abiodun Owokoya Lauds group

The Founder of Cheche Foundation, Abiodun Owokoya, has lauded the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans on this year’s celebration.

LASCOSTA is the umbrella body of the Non- informal Sector with over forty-five (45) groups with each group having about 100 members in IKosi Isheri area of Kosofe.

He described the event as unique while celebrating LASCOSTA day, graduation and awards Ceremony of IKosi zone held at Caleb ground along CMD.

Owokoya popularly known as Abbey Cheche was ably represented at the occasion by Mr. Niyi Olaoke said the event was unique, and Cheche Foundation was excited to be identified with the noble stakeholders.

Reacting to the proposed Federal Government taxation of the non-formal Sector. He implored FG and it’s agencies to avoid the temptation of double taxation.

“FG, Federal Inland Revenues’ agency should
jettison the idea of collecting road tax from hairdressers, carpenters, others. They should rather think on how to support this Sector to boost economy power.”

“Currently each member of the Associations pay between 55000 and 10,000 annually to LCDAs, Local Governments, about 5000 annual tax to the State government and dues to their various Associations among others.”

He further noted that Local and state government should continue to partner with the non-formal Sector to boost the economy and to improve dividence of Democracy to all.

At Cheche Foundation we strongly believed that’ Giving is living’ we shall look at the areas we can partner with the Tradesmen and Artisans in Kosofe to support their businesses.
