Not even the most beautiful lady looks pretty crying

No one that works real hard to make money burns cash the way these emergency ‘billionaires’ does.

What exactly do these guys do for a living that brings in what looks like unlimited cash?

None is into manufacturing, telecommunications, oil, power or other global ventures. None own an international brand.

Ben Maurice Bruce is the father of entertainment business in Nigeria and silverbird is a recognised and recognizable brand.

Not once did I ever see my former Director General throw cash around so frivolously, so unnecessarily. He worked hard to earn every dime.

Dangote, Adenuga and Otedola are the biggest names when it comes to riches. They all have recognizable brands.

However, none have disrespected the naira or hard currency which they have surplus of by showing off private jets and luxuries.

Decorum must be applied in everything we do. We must apply wisdom and tact as strategies for survival and sustainability.

We are poorer than the people whom we try intimidate by showing off our often, sudden riches.

I sometimes go through the posts of these emergency ‘billionaires’ on social media.

I do not see photos of rehabilitation of public schools, healthcare facilities or a foundation for charity projects.

In a country where over ninety-five percent of the people are poor, what is the delight in displaying a bottle of wine that costs three point five million naira?

I see Nigerians wake up at four in the morning and return 10 at night just to make money. These are not unintelligent people.

Many are smart, creative and industrious. What exactly will anyone be doing and displaying such opulence?

Unfortunately, rather than attract scorn and questions, millions especially youths follow them on social media.

They ask for give aways or beg for money. Like the naira, that is how depleted our values have gone. No one cares how the money comes.

Unfortunately, many politicians and public office holders started the corruption of our values.

They stole public funds recklessly and inserted provisions in the law that ensured they earned far more than the office they occupy.

They oppressed the people with their ostentatious lifestyles.

Today’s young guys therefore feel justified engaging in the most unimaginable ventures as long as they cash out.

As soon as they get paid, the social media is their play ground. They flaunt expensive cars, jewelries etc. They throw wild parties with enough alcohol and ladies.

Sadly very few in Nigeria have the moral right to challenge these guys? Not the corrupt politicians, police or public office holders.

Everyone it seem, is playing for the same team, wearing a similar Jersey but playing on different turfs.

Decent and honest hard working Nigerians are now not only in the minority but are also, endangered species.
