No elevator to success

Mike Oluwatosin Egbayelo, sorry i mean Dr Mike Oluwatosin Egbayelo recently said something so profoundly true but sad.

Dr Egbayelo who is the Director at the Excellerate Business School Lagos, at one of LGNA’s LAD seminar for young people explained how graduates are usually invited to enrol in classes that will enhance their Employability in the labour market.

Even though these classes/courses are free, a majority ignore the invitation prefering to acess the labour market unskilled and ill- prepared yet hoping for astounding salaries.

He described the situation as sad and tragic as it will negatively affect social and economic growth in the country.

LGNA recently established a platform aimed at inspiring leadership, growth and values in young people.

Videos and messages that could help build capacity and development are frequently shared on the platform. So far, eleven have exited the platform.

Trully it is somewhat of a tragedy the mind set of a majority of Nigerian youths. In their thousands they join and follow anyone an ostentatious lifestyle.

Many youths will read every line of Obi Cubana’s post . Before Huspupi was arrested he was a big time social média celebrity with a population of ten million followers.

Young people eagerly follow individuals that share money and other material gifts rather than knowledge as ‘give away’.

‘who knowledge hep?’
They always ask.

To them if it not about money now now, it does not make sense. Anything and everything that can help them buy the latest Rolls Royce, Range Rover, Lambogini etc deserve greater attention.

Many young people want to be another Dangote, Otedola or Mike Adenuga but unwilling to learn what it takes to build wealth.

They have no patience or dicipline which many believe is for the older generation.

Young girls are on social media flaunting naked bodies and demanding money for sex.

Their breasts and other sensitive parts have been de-listed from the catigory of private parts.

Why this sudden mad craze for money and material possessions? Why the urgency and desperation?

Have you earsdrop on the conversations of teenagers lately? You maybe shocked at what you hear them say.

This may give you insights into what the future holds for this great country.

As it is today, internet fraudstars are the heroes in our university as they cruize in fancy luxuy cars on campuses.

Members of cultist groups are the lawmakers, dictators and influencers in and outside campus.

At LGNA leadership, Development and values seminars we reach out to young people encouraging them to walk the universally accepted paths to greatness.

Acquiring the right Knowledge and values are still the key to success and distinquished leadership.

No body talks about how rich Ngozi Iweala, Akinwunmi Adesina and co are. Yet they are reverred internationally.

Dont join the mad craze and race to be emergency billionaires. There are still no elevators to success.

It takes hard work, discipline, patience and consistency. The choice is yours.

May God bless you
