Agboyi Ketu Lcda area of Lagos State council has promised to intensify safety campaigns among the traders following the recurring fire disasters at Owode Onirin Market.
This was disclosed by the Agboyi Ketu Lcda Vice Chairman, Mrs. Folake Kayode during Valentine’s Day celebration organized by longrich at LeBron land college at Irawo recently.
She described the last fire disaster that occurred at the market as pathetic while she visited the scene.
“We are not going to have such problem anymore, we need to enlighten Owode Onirin Market traders, because even when the fire was on there’s no water there.”
She noted that as cheap as borehole is, it could not be found in the affected place in the big market.
She added that Safety, Health and Environment training will be organized for the traders in order to put an end to the incessant fire outbreaks which are as a result of negligence among others.
Furthermore, she assures that the Local Council under the leadership of Mayor Dele Oshinowo, who is an expert in risk management, will take proactive in Partnership with the traders do the to prevent such reoccurrence.
Recalls last year fire gutted the market on several occasions, while January this year fire disasters has been recorded twice in Owode Onirin Market.
