It would be recalled that the present administration made an announcement earlier this week that dredging and desilting work would begin on two blocked channels.

The blocked canals to be worked on are two channels; firstly, the channel passing through Church Street, Agboyi Road, Ajibola Street, and Goodluck Street.

While monitoring the second channel, dredging and desilting of the blocked channel from Elebiju to Akinyemi will take place.the flag-off exercise at the ‘Estate axis’ of Alapere, the Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Alaba Saliu, noted that the emergency intervention was to clear the canals of silt, rubbish, and sludge.

Alaba further stated that the exercise would put an end to the menace of flooding in low-lying areas.

Apart from the desilting and dredging exercises, he noted that the present administration is working on an awareness program that will help to educate residents on proper waste management.
