The National Coordinator, Women in Nigeria for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (WIN4ABAT) and Lagos State Secretary, Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (SWAGA’23), Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara, adopted by APC Kingmakers to thwart the incumbent lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency Federal Constituency, Honourable Agunsoye, and predecessor Dayo Bush, who is seeking a third term in the house through a fierce battle.
Sources privy to developments in Dayo Bush’s camp said the former lawmaker joined the race to stop Rotimi Agunsoye’s return to the house for being the brain behind that prevented him from clinching the party ticket in 2023.
Also, banking on his father, Lagos East senatorial leader of GAC, Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, Ikosi Isheri Lcda, and Agboyi Ketu Lcda, among others.
However, Agunsoye denied the allegations made during his last Bugatti empowerment that he only kicked against underperforming representatives.
While the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rtd Hon. Olufemi Gbajabiamila, has been successfully reelected by the party to return to the house for the 6th term, many keen stakeholders are of the opinion that in Kosofe Federal Constituency, either Agunsoye or Alebiosu, will be the first high-ranking lawmaker that will break the third jinx of returning to the green chamber from Kosofe.
However, on the eve of the primary election, the instruction from the highest decision-making organ of the party, the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) Local Council Chairmen, and to the two top contenders to withdraw from the race in support of Kafilat aka mama, SWAGA.
The duo of Agunsoye and Alebiosu immediately submerged and succumbed to the party supremacy by convening an emergency meeting on the day of the party’s primary election to brief and appeal to their numerous supporters to allow peace to reign.
Apparently, the party leaders did not bother to reach out to other contestants like Abiodun Owokoya, aka Abbey Cheche, and Mrs. Remi Odunsi Oluwagbon, who had both stepped into the venue for the initially planned affirmation exercise turned into a real contest since the heavyweight contestants had voluntarily withdrawn from the race.
The aggrieved aspirants, Abiodun Owokoya and Mrs. Remi Odunsi Oluwagbon, who complained bitterly processed walkouts after the primary election had been successfully completed, before the party officials announced Kafilat Ogbara, who polled 44 votes out of the 45 accredited delegates, as the winner.
