Following the successful conclusion of the House of Assembly Primaries election and the submission of candidates’ names to the Independent Electoral Act and the presentation of INEC forms, the major parties have revealed their flagbearers before the people of Kosofe to make their choice.

According to Kosofe Post findings, the race is between those not too young to run candidates under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party and those not too old to run candidates on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Beyond the competency, capability, experience, and productivity tests the general election promises, the poll will also reveal how united the younger generation is irregardless of their demographic, psychographic, and political affiliations respectively.

In Kosofe Constituency 1, Mr. Owoaje Babasola is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, while the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Mr. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon, is the standard bearer for the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 general elections.
Mr. Ibrahim Balogun (PDP), and a first-term lawmaker, Mr. Femi Saheed (APC), who are seeking a second term, are the standard bearers of their respective parties.

Political parties expected to field candidates in the third force include the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Political Party, among others, who have yet to announce their candidate names.

So far, among the major contestants, Sanni’s of the APC still remains the only serious candidate who has made his profile available to the general public for scrutiny ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Other political party candidates are expected to do the same to enable the electorate to know their candidates beyond social media space and for proper engagement.
