2023 Budget: Ikosi Isheri organizes Stakeholders consultative forum on preparation processes

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area, Kosofe, area of Lagos, Princess Samiat Bada, reiterated the council’s commitment to engage the people in participatory government in which citizens will have their say and way.

Princess Samiat spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting on the council’s 2023session themed “Budget of Reality and Continuity” held at the council’s secretariat, Ikosi ketu.

She said the meeting will assist her administration in collating the needs of the people in various areas geared towards fostering good community engagement and governmental projects.

“It is an avenue to present and examine societal projects and programs to ascertain their levels of relevance, incorporate them, and factor them into the year 2023 budgets,” she said.

On achievements recorded by the council in the past year, the council chief reeled out the administration’s footprint on roads and infrastructure, education and youth empowerment, social welfare and tourism, health and environment, agri and social services, among others. 

Samiat, who hit the ground running in the last year to accomplish several development projects across communities in the council, reiterated that her administration would continue to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of residents.

At the interactive session, attended byExecutive cabinet members, the Legislative Arms, traditional leaders, religion leaders, community leaders, political leaders, and non-indigenous participants presented their needs.

His Royal Highness Oba Samuel Alamu Kehinde Oloyede, ably represented by Chief Jimoh Atanda, commended the council chairman for the various legacy projects. He specifically lauded the council for sustaining the Ikosi Isheri Magodo Cultural Carnival.

On traffic control management on the Ikosi Road and environs, he urges the council to sensitize commercial tricycle riders over reckless driving and suggests the road linking the Onikosi Palace should be made one-way.

He implored the council to desilt canals along the Ikosi, Agiliti, and Omojuwa axes to prevent recurring flooding and fix the failed section of road at Aiyedere, Ajibola, Oluwalogbon, and Adebimpe, among others.

Ikosi Isheri Community Development Community Chairman, Mr. Adesina Adekoya, who spoke on behalf of the Community Development Associations while showering praise on the Samiat Bada-Led administration, asked CDas to further their pressing community needs to the appropriate quarters.

The Supervisor for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Shola Odubiro, thanked the participants and enjoined them to forward the list of their needs to the Economic Planning and Budget Department of the City Council for inclusion in the year’s 2023 budget.
