Onita Coker narrates alleged assault experience

The Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Onita Coker, has narrated his experience over the recent assault on him during the stakeholders meeting held in Kosofe.

Coker described recent events in Kosofe LGA as ugly and nauseating, which assumed a ridiculous dimension where he was violently attacked.

Recounting his experience in a statement received by Kosofe Post, he said, “On January 5, 2023, our LGA Chairman, Mr. Niyi Olabiran, called a meeting of leaders, stakeholders, and Ward chairmen to principally discuss the impending visit of our amiable, hardworking governorship candidate, Dr. Olajide Adediran (Jandor), to the Wards in Kosofe LGA.

“A group of boys, who had earlier laid siege to the premises, moved in to disrupt the meeting. They came, shouting, throwing water sachets and broken bottles and cups, upturning tables, etc. And amidst the confusion, leaders and other stakeholders scrambled to safety,” he said.

Explaining further, she stated, “On my way down the stairs, I was accosted, dehumanized, demobilized, and disoriented.” They yanked off my cap and removed my glasses. At the entrance on my way out, another scene was created. But for the intervention of passersby, I wouldn’t have been rescued. Maybe I would have been killed!

“The time has come for the sponsors of this heinous act to know that nothing is achieved through violence and wanton destruction of property,”
Contrary to the viral post insinuating that PDP Southwest General Secretary, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, ordered the accused’s arrest, he said the LGA Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi Olabiran, reported the matter to Area “H” Command in Ogudu, which led to the perpetrator’s subsequent arrest.

“This despicable act must be nipped in the bud, hence the decision by the LGA Chairman to report them to the Police Area Command to prevent future occurrences,” he said.

The Kosofe Post (KP) earlier reported that the Kosofe Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has been enthralled with an internal crisis a few weeks before the general election.
