The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the smooth electoral process in the ongoing presidential election, calling for improvement in the upcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly election on March 11.

Oshinowo made this known after casting his vote in his polling unit in Agboyi-Ketu, Lagos on Saturday. The chairman noted that the process had been smooth so far but with a few hiccups in some polling units visited regarding the functionality of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS).

According to him, while some BVAS are working, some are not, while some are even shutting down, but INEC officers have come to solve the issues. Oshinowo said so far, the process had been free and fair, commending the electorate for coming out to exercise their civic responsibility.

He said there was no trouble in Agboyi-Ketu and all the polling units that he had visited had voted in a peaceful and orderly manner. The chairman said at the end of the day, he was optimistic that all the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates would win.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have continued to turn out in large numbers to vote in the ongoing presidential election amidst tight security across the country. The electoral process has been relatively peaceful, with isolated cases of violence reported in some areas. The use of BIVAS has been praised by many, as it reduces the chances of electoral malpractice and makes the accreditation process faster and more efficient.

INEC has assured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election. The electoral body has also called on all stakeholders, including political parties and their candidates, to uphold the principles of fairness and transparency throughout the electoral process.
