Idasho Community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, has called on the electorate in Lagos to vote for the incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for a second term in office. The community made the call during a media interaction with newsmen at Idi-Shewe Beach in Lagos on Sunday.
According to the Secretary-General of Idasho Community, Otunba Ladipo Olusanya Adeokun, the community’s support for Sanwo-Olu’s re-election was their voice and political stand for the rescheduled gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in 2023.
Idasho Community is the mother village that comprises 22 Ijebu speaking people annexed to Lagos Colony in 1863 and is the hosting community to Dangote Petro-chemical Refineries in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Adeokun urged the indigenes and residents of Ibeju-Lekki to come out en-masse and cast their votes for all the political contestants under the flag of APC, saying it would ensure that the incumbent Governor and other APC candidates are re-elected into various political posts they are vying for.
He also reminded the present administration of Lagos State to fast track and approve their community’s monarchical candidate as Oloja OF Idasho, stating that the matter had already been tabled to the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs through their Local Government Chairman to enable the viable development of the community.
Adeokun further explained that the land traditionally belongs to the Ijebus, Aworis, and Ogwus, adding that granting such rare privileges to outsiders shouldn’t warrant their unjust and nauseous disposition to arrogating and parading themselves as sons and daughters of the soil.
He also congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on his electoral victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election and appreciated other tribes who voted for his emergence all over the country.
