INEC presents Certificates of Return to elected members of Lagos State House of Assembly

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return (CoR) to the elected members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, including Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon of Kosofe constituency 1 and Hon. Obafemi Saheed of Kosofe constituency 2. The presentation of the CoR took place at the Commission’s Lagos office on Thursday, March 18th, in the presence of local government chairmen, the Secretary to the Local Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC) LGA Chairman, family members, and party supporters.
INEC had earlier declared Hon. Sanni Ganiu and Hon. Obafemi Saheed, both candidates of the APC, as winners of the House of Assembly election held on Saturday. Hon. Sanni Ganiu emerged victorious with 11,649 votes, defeating Mr. Osikominu of the Labour Party who came second with 11,563 votes, Lanre Carew (SDP) with 7,242 votes, and Owoaje Babasola of PDP who secured 1,253 votes.
Similarly, Hon. Obafemi Saheed of the APC won the election in Kosofe constituency 2 with a total of 31,690 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Adeyemi Hammed Babatunde of the Labour Party, who polled 13,038 votes. Other candidates who contested for the seat included Ibrahim Balogun of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 2,586 votes, Mohammed Moroof Adeleye of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who received 1,396 votes, and Bakare Babajide Bajodeko of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who polled 318 votes.
Speaking at the event, the elected lawmakers expressed their gratitude to the people of Kosofe for their support and promised to work tirelessly to fulfill their campaign promises. They also pledged to represent their constituents effectively and contribute their quota to the development of Lagos State.
The presentation of the CoR marks the official recognition of Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon and Hon. Obafemi Saheed as members-elect of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and they are expected to be sworn in soon to commence legislative duties.
