Imam Alli Bolaji Atunrase, the Imam at NASFAT Islamic Centre, Ota Ona annex, has urged Muslims to sustain the acts of friendliness, generosity, and kindness exhibited during the fasting period of Ramadan. He made the call during the last weekend’s Jumat prayers, where he admonished the congregations against returning to evil practices abandoned during the holy month.
Imam Atunrase described Ramadan as a conference with various activities, such as fasting, recitation of the Holy Quran, and prayers, among others. He stressed that all the lessons learned during Ramadan must be sustained, and men and women must not return to their ungodly ways after the holy month.
He appreciated the acts of kindness exhibited during Ramadan, where people would give money to buy fruits to break their fast and urged Muslims to continue such gestures even after Ramadan. He also admonished the public spirited individuals who brought out their wealth during the fasting period to continue doing so after the holy month.
Imam Atunrase illustrated wealth as a football game, where a good player passes the ball to other teammates. He advised Muslims not to be greedy but to be generous with their wealth, stressing that no one could play football alone, rotate and pass the ball to themselves.
While urging Muslims to sustain acts of kindness after Ramadan, he emphasized the need for couples to tolerate, understand, and be patient with each other. He noted that a marriage that a patient could not solve, no medicine could solve it, and advised couples to manage each other’s excessive behaviors.
The Muslim faithful across the globe are expected to end the 29 or 30 days fasting with Eid-El-Fitri prayers this week and imbibe the teachings of the month in their lifestyle after the fasting.
