Since taking office in 2021, the Kosofe Chairman had regularly held these media chats, allowing select members of the press to ask pertinent questions about the governance and development of the local government. While the chats did not result in groundbreaking revelations, they served as a means to bridge the communication gap between the council chairman and the people of Kosofe.

However, Ogunlewe’s decision to suspend the media chat has raised eyebrows among journalists and residents alike. It comes at a time when reports are circulating that no capital projects have been executed in the past six months, and concerns are growing about the abandonment of projects initiated by Ogunlewe’s predecessor.

When approached for comment, the Head of Information and the Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman were unable to provide reasons for the sudden suspension. This has left media practitioners demanding explanations for the decision, as they seek to understand the implications for transparency and accountability within the local government.

The absence of the media chat leaves many questions unanswered. Residents are now left wondering about the current state of affairs in Kosofe and the progress of key projects. The suspension of this vital avenue for engagement has left a void in communication between the council chairman and the community, fueling concerns about transparency and openness in local governance.

As the indefinite suspension of the monthly media chat continues, the people of Kosofe eagerly await an official statement from the council chairman, hoping for a reinstatement of the platform that had served as a vital link between the local government and its constituents.
