Concerned Kosofe Youth Calls for Consideration of Abbey Cheche as Commissioner Designate

In a bid to ensure the representation of vibrant youth in the Lagos State government, a youth group under the auspices of Concerned Kosofe Youth has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider Engr. Abiodun Owokoya Abbey Cheche, an APC House of Representatives aspirant, as a commissioner designate.

The call comes amidst speculations that three names have been forwarded from Kosofe for consideration in the selection of commissioners and special advisers in Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s cabinet.

In a recent statement titled “Kosofe Needs a Vibrant Youth as Commissioner,” the youth group described Engr. Abiodun Owokoya Abbey Cheche as the perfect fit for the appointment. They emphasized the importance of giving the youth an opportunity, considering the previous commissioners and special advisers from Kosofe constituency in the Lagos State executive.

Engr. Abiodun Owokoya Abbey Cheche, popularly known as Abbey Cheche, was an aspirant for the House of Representatives in the recently concluded elections and has displayed a high level of sportsmanship throughout the process, according to the statement.

The group highlighted his accomplishments as an engineer in the field of technology, his philanthropic endeavors, and his seasoned political background. They argued that Abbey Cheche possesses the qualifications and expertise to serve as the commissioner of science and technology in Lagos State. The statement further noted his meritorious service to the United States government and his impressive CV.

The Concerned Kosofe Youth urged the leaders of thought to seriously consider Abbey Cheche’s candidacy and emphasized the importance of having a technology expert to handle the science and technology ministry in Lagos State. They emphasized the need for proper representation of youth in the Kosofe constituency and throughout Lagos State.

Residents who spoke separately with our correspondent described Owokoya as unparalleled and highlighted his contributions to the growth and development of the All Progressives Congress over two decades, despite not holding a public office. They called on the party’s kingmakers to give a prepared and dedicated youth like Abbey Cheche a chance.
