Primate Odugbesi, in a personal statement released on Tuesday and obtained by Kosofe Post, addressed the speculations surrounding the group’s stance. He stated, “We want to categorically state that there is no truth to the rumor circulating about members of The Mandate Group planning a protest against the nomination of an Ikorodu indigene, particularly Ms. Olusanya, daughter of a prominent APC chieftain in the state. We unequivocally deny any such move, whether in dreams or reality.”
The leader of The Mandate Movement in the Ikorodu division emphasized their unwavering commitment to supporting the nomination of any deserving candidate from Ikorodu, including Ms. Abisola Olusanya. Primate Odugbesi affirmed, “Our group’s objectives do not involve blocking opportunities for individuals. If the Governor, with whom the nominee has worked, deems her fit for another term, we support that decision. A good term, in our view, merits another term.”
Primate Charles Odugbesi expressed his belief that the chosen representative for Ikorodu in Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s cabinet would possess the qualities of love and a deep reverence for God to effectively carry out their assigned responsibilities.
Kosofe Post’s investigation revealed that Ms. Abisola Olusanya, a former Commissioner of Agriculture, was among the three nominees presented by the All Progressives Congress leadership for consideration as a commissioner.
Primate Odugbesi distanced The Mandate Movement from any purported protests and denounced those who spread false information, describing them as enemies of progress for the Ikorodu division. The group’s leader urged unity and support for the chosen candidate, trusting that their appointment would contribute positively to the development and welfare of Ikorodu.
