In an exclusive interview with Kosofe Post, Engr. Seriki Olalekan, the Assistant Director of Lagos State Public Works Corporation, shed light on the numerous palliative road rehabilitations he has facilitated in the Agboyi Ketu area of Lagos State. With a deep-rooted connection to the community spanning four decades, Seriki recognized the pressing issue of bad roads that has persistently plagued the area. Despite the efforts of the Lagos State Government to improve road infrastructure, Seriki expressed disappointment with the local government’s lackluster response, particularly in Agboyi Ketu.

Reflecting on the tenure of Mayor Dele Oshinowo, who is currently serving his second term, Seriki lamented the limited progress made in terms of accessible roads. He highlighted the ongoing construction of the main road, which has caused considerable distress and inconvenience to the community. To address this pressing concern, Seriki took it upon himself to initiate various road rehabilitations, emphasizing the importance of providing viable alternatives for residents to conduct their daily activities.

Seriki emphasized that his actions were not driven by political ambition but rather by a genuine desire to contribute to the welfare of his community. As a resident of Agboyi Ketu himself, he personally experienced the daily struggles imposed by dilapidated roads. Acknowledging the state government’s efforts to rectify the situation, particularly regarding the viral Demurin road issue, Seriki believes that complementing their initiatives at the local level is essential.

He highlighted several roads that he has successfully facilitated for rehabilitation, including Oriola Kazeem Street, Orishigun, Iyase Street, and others. Additionally, Seriki revealed ongoing efforts to create a route connecting Orishigun to Ajayi, Adamson, and Alhaji Lawal streets, which will eventually link to Demurin Road. This alternative route aims to alleviate traffic congestion on Ikorodu Road for commuters traveling from Ikorodu to the expressway.

By leveraging his position and influence, Seriki aims to bring tangible improvements to Agboyi Ketu and ensure that the community’s needs and aspirations are met. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving his fellow residents and emphasized his determination to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local government.
