The attention of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA has been drawn to a misleading online report, credited to one Assistant Director of Lagos State Public Works Corporation, Engr. Olalekan Seriki, where he expressed disappoinment with the local government’s lackluster response to road infrastructure in Lagos State, particularly Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Ordinarily, this smokescreen report laced with salacious drive to damage the reputation of the Mayor Dele Oshinowo administration piloting the affairs of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA doesn’t deserve our quick response,but for the unsuspecting residents and individuals beyond our shores, we are compelled by the forces of truth to provide light to a dark lie.
While our administration is not one to praise itself, it is, however, general knowledge that our administration has constructed and rehabilitated several roads in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. Presently as we react, our administration is opening another new construction graph with workmen embarking on fresh construction works on Alhaji Usman Omomuwa Avenue, Agboyi Estate.
While we agreed that some mentioned roads in the mischievous report by its malicious maker were being lightly rehabilitated to serve as alternative routes in anticipation of the then Lagos State Government’s Rehabilitation of Ikorodu Road (Ojota to Mile 12) by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation years ago; however, apart from Iyase Street, Kosofe, all the roads he mentioned have undergone intensive rehabilitation drive of our administration with ample visuals scattered all over the internet as infallible evidence.
For record purposes and historical analysis in years to come, the Mayor Dele Oshinowo administration is glad that since inception in 2017, it has been able to work on 44.7 kilometers of local roads so far.
Also in the mischievous report, Engr. Olalekan Seriki claimed that our administration has done nothing in its second coming, this is an ugly postulation to discredit the fundamental contributions and massive appreciation of our people. While our administration has *gravitated towards placing a high premium on palliative rehabilitation of roads in the owode-ajegunle area of the LCDA (due to the critical condition of the roads), however, we are proud to say that other areas of the locality have not be left out in the administration’s construction drive.
It is on record that, during the second term of the Mayor Dele Oshinowo administration, citizens with good vision and unbiased mindsets have witnessed the usage of asphalt to enhance road construction, among them are the construction of four roads in the Araba area of Alapere, Reconstruction of Sanuaje Street, Alapere, Rehabilitation of Oterubi Ogidan Street, Weighbridge, Rehabilitation of Ajibola Street, Alapere, Rehabilitation of Igboho Street, Alapere and Rehabilitation of Adisa Balogun, Alapere that has ensured motorists can enjoy seamless drive to link Goodluck corridor, heading to Ogudu Orioke.
While our administration is determined to do more for the development of our locality, there is need to highlight another ugly statement made in the said report wherein the interviewee stated that ” He took upon himself to initiate various rehabilitations”
Indeed , the aforementioned statement is highly embarrassing and paints a negative color to the cooperative works of the Lagos State Government in collaboration with its Local Governments.
The statement which is totally reckless in its chemistry casts aspersions on the Lagos State Government and is in breach of the Civil Service Rules and conduct of a civil servant in granting press interviews in the state.Indeed, he has demonstrated that his actions are politically-motivated to blackmail our administration as well as usurping the power of the General Manager of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation who is an appointtee of the Lagos State Governor.
Further to this, as the pillar of collaboration between the Lagos State Government and her local governments is potent to enhance monumental development at the grassroots, the third tier of government in our well-endowed state has been giving a platform to identify and forward roads that need urgent maintenance to the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.
Therefore, in the humble opinion of our administration there is a need for the state government to investigate this important matter of defamation and unruly behaviour in conformity with the established civil service rules governing the roles of a civil servant in granting press releases in the state.
In conclusion, the good works of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation is not only limited to Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, so why the ‘Callous Omen’ to paint Agboyi-Ketu LCDA as a pariah environment.
While we are happy that residents of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA are doing good in their various engagements to contribute to the growth and development of our beloved locality, our administration will simply urge our people to disregard the fabricated press release on Kosofe Post with the headline “Assistant Director Seriki Olalekan Spearheads Road Rehabilitations ” and rather concentrate on working for the good of our beloved Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
