In a move to alleviate the economic hardships faced by vulnerable individuals, Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a stalwart in Agboyi Ketu LCDA, has undertaken a self-sponsored initiative distributing 1200 palliatives. The food packages, consisting of essentials like yam tubers, beans, garri, rice, salt, and Maggi cubes, were disbursed across the seven wards within Agboyi Ketu LCDA.

Notably, this gesture was executed with inclusivity in mind. The distribution reached beyond just local residents, extending to encompass political leaders, members of the Community Development Committee/Community Development Associations, and even journalists. Each of these groups received packages directly at their doorsteps, reinforcing the comprehensive approach taken by Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola’s endeavor.

Speaking exclusively to The Kosofe Post, Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola emphasized that the provision of assistance to the vulnerable should not solely rest on the shoulders of the government. He stressed that such efforts are a collective responsibility, highlighting the significance of community engagement during challenging times.

This commendable action coincides with the Agboyi Ketu LCDA Chairman Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s “We Lift Food Bank Initiative.” Thousands of residents recently benefited from this endeavor, further emphasizing the community’s united front against economic hardships. Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola praised Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s initiative, explaining that his own gesture aimed to complement the ongoing efforts of the council Chairman.

Beyond the immediate relief offered by these initiatives, Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola provided insightful commentary on broader economic matters. He acknowledged that the benefits of removing petrol subsidies might not be immediately apparent but pointed out that investing in vital sectors like education, health, and infrastructure development would yield long-term gains for the nation.

With the administration of Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu steering the ship, Hon. Oluwafemi Opabola called on residents to exercise patience while the government works towards rebuilding the nation’s economy. He underscored the need for continuous enlightenment efforts by government agencies, aiming to ensure that the general populace comprehends the intricate dynamics of fuel subsidy removal and its ultimate impact on the economy.
