Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, a veteran in the banking and financial sector, urged young software developers and tech enthusiasts to embrace the abundant prospects within the tech landscape during his keynote speech at the 2023 Hackfest, organized by GenZtechies. The event, held at the Multipurpose Hall of the University of Lagos, attracted over 1,000 young Nigerians eager to explore the ever-expanding world of technology.
Senator Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, co-founded the groundbreaking SAIL Innovation Lab, a hub that has equipped more than 3,000 constituents, primarily young individuals, with technological skills in under two years. The Lab also co-sponsored the Hackfest, solidifying Senator Abiru’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
Highlighting the significance of technology and innovation in the present era, Senator Abiru stressed that the 4th industrial revolution era brings unprecedented opportunities for the youth. He acknowledged the crucial role of collective efforts in nation-building and emphasized the importance of excellence and success in shaping the nation’s policy landscape.
Referring to the success story of Dr. Bosun Tijani, Co-founder of Africa’s leading tech company Co-creation Hub (CCHub), Senator Abiru underscored the potential for young entrepreneurs and tech professionals to drive policy development and contribute positively to society.
Eniola Osabiya, the visionary founder of GenZHackfest, extended his gratitude to Senator Abiru and other sponsors who have consistently supported the annual event. Osabiya praised Senator Abiru’s dedication to sustainable empowerment through human capital development, envisioning boundless horizons for tech-passionate youth under such mentorship.

Founded in 2020 as a WhatsApp group for tech-savvy youths, GenZtechies has rapidly evolved into a premier network for young tech enthusiasts in Africa, boasting successful international expansion in 2021. The community has transformed lives, propelling members to prominent tech positions and helping others secure substantial funding for their startups.
