Deaconess Ajoke Rachael Ojurayo Sadiku Laid to Rest Amidst Tears

The community of Alapere and beyond bid a heartfelt farewell to Deaconess Ajoke Rachael Ojurayo Sadiku, a beloved figure known for her kindness, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering faith, as she was laid to rest today at her Alapere residence. Deaconess Sadiku, who passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 80, left behind a legacy that touched the lives of many.


Friends, family, and members of the Life Evangelical Ministry Inc. (Ijo-Iye), the church where Deaconess Sadiku served faithfully as a deaconess, gathered to pay their last respects during a Service at Home and Graveside prayer held in her honor.


Ajoke Rachael Omo’ba Nurse, born on March 30, 1943, in Mutaku village, Lagos state, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Omowo. She grew up in a family of six, sharing her life with an elder sister, the Late Mrs. Comfort Muili, and two younger brothers, the Late Mr. Monday John Omowo and Mr. Olugbenga John Omowo. From an early age, she displayed dedication and a strong work ethic, assisting her parents with farm work and demonstrating a deep love for her family.
In her lifetime, Deaconess Sadiku wore many hats, transitioning from a dedicated daughter to a loving wife and mother. She was first married to Mr. Adewale Samsa, with whom she welcomed her first child, Mr. Opeoluwa Lateef Adelaja. Later, she remarried Alhaji Yinusa Ojurayo Sadiku, leading her to relocate to Lagos in 1968. This union blessed her with four children: Alhaja Mrs. Muibat Folashade Oladipo, Mr. Yinka Mufutau Sadiku, Mr. Jamiu Sadiku, and Mr. Yusuf Sadiku.


Deaconess Sadiku’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly throughout her life. She engaged in numerous businesses, including jewelry and clothing fabric sales, building material supply, cement sales, rental services, and owning a provision store. Her industriousness and dedication to her work were admired by many in the community.


Beyond her business ventures, she had an active social life and was known for her generosity. She found joy in helping people from all walks of life and was a cherished mother and grandmother.


In the early ’90s, Deaconess Sadiku found her faith in Christ and became an active member of the Life Evangelical Ministry Inc. (Ijo-Iye). Her dedication to church activities and unwavering belief in Christ eventually led to her ordination as a deaconess. She also had the privilege of traveling outside the country on three occasions to visit her children in the United Kingdom twice and the United States of America once.


Deaconess Sadiku leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, brother, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As Deaconess Ajoke Rachel Ojurayo Sadiku is laid to rest, may her wonderful soul find eternal peace.
