The residents of Maidan in the Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Kosofe area of Lagos State, are making a heartfelt appeal to the Lagos State Government for the urgent reconstruction of the collapsed Maidan Bridge.

The Kosofe Post reported that around July, this makeshift bridge crumbled due to a heavy downpour. The devastating collapse has significantly impacted the daily lives of school children, residents, and patients visiting the community health center.

One of the concerned residents, Demola Odufalu, has been vocal about the pressing need for the government’s swift intervention. In several emails sent to the Kosofe Post, Odufalu emphasized the urgency of the situation.

“The bridge collapsed on July 8, 2022. Please, we need government intervention to facilitate the project,” stated Odufalu.

He went on to highlight the critical role the bridge plays in the community, saying, “It is a link road close to the health center and Maidan Primary School in Mile 12, under Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area. Moreover, the bridge is not even up to 50 meters in length, and it serves as the sole means of transportation out of the community via water.”

Furthermore, Odufalu expressed the community’s apprehension about water transportation, recalling a previous unfavorable experience before the bridge was initially constructed. “We don’t want that to happen again,” he stated firmly.

On behalf of the people of Maidan Orile Mile 12, Kosofe, the concerned resident has appealed to the state government to come to their rescue. “We are deeply disappointed that nothing has been done up until this year, 2023. We all in the community voted for APC,” he added, highlighting the community’s hope for government intervention.
