The British Red Cross, led by Richard Blewitt, Executive Director International, was warmly welcomed during their visit to the enchanting Agboyi Community. Accompanied by colleagues Sarah Clayton-Fisher and Karsten Voigt, as well as the Nigeria Red Cross team, the visitors embarked on a unique journey into the heart of Agboyi.

The community rolled out a regal reception, escorting the British Red Cross team in a vibrant boat regatta. Traditional chiefs, adorned in cultural regalia, paid homage with a guard of honor upon their disembarkation, leaving the visitors overwhelmed by the warmth of their welcome.

The purpose of this visit was two-fold: to underscore the Red Cross’s pivotal role in Agboyi, a community that has benefited from the society on three occasions, and to gain insight into the community’s pressing needs. The report, compiled collaboratively, saw the overall head of the British Red Cross join virtually to witness the proceedings.

In a moment of profound recognition, the Olu Of Agboyiland presented the British Red Cross with a prestigious award, acknowledging their significant impact not only on Agboyi Kingdom but also on the global stage. Adding to this honor, three distinguished representatives were bestowed with Chieftaincy titles: Richard Blewitt as AARE TAYESE OF AGBOYILAND, Sarah Clayton-Fisher as YEYE AMULUDUN OF AGBOYILAND, and Karsten Voigt as OTUNBA SOLUDERO OF AGBOYILAND, each receiving a Chieftaincy certificate.

The festivities continued with captivating traditional displays by the Egungun, Agemo, and the Gelede, setting the stage for the highlight of the evening—the presentation of exquisite artwork to Chief Richard Blewitt, a token of appreciation for the enduring connection forged between the British Red Cross and the resilient community of Agboyi.
