Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State faces a unique constitutional challenge as Vice Chairmen step into the shoes of their late Executive Chairmen due to unforeseen deaths. As the political landscape heats up, questions arise about the eligibility of these successors for another term.

The series of unfortunate events between 2019 and 2021 saw the demise of multiple local government and LCDA Executive Chairmen, leading to the constitutional ascension of Vice Chairmen, such as Samiat Bada in Ikosi Isheri LCDA. Bada’s bid for reelection sparks debates among supporters praising her leadership and skeptics dismissing it as a ploy for financial gains.

Oloye Salami Oluwaseun, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress, shared insights with the Kosofe Post, predicting an intriguing Ikosi Isheri LCDA election in 2025. While acknowledging the incumbency factor, Oluwaseun emphasized the constitutional dimensions at play.

Legal professional { Namewitheld }delves into the intricacies, asserting that Federal laws and INEC electoral regulations, designed for Presidents and Governors, do not extend to Local Government and LCDA positions. The Councel clarifies that the constitutional provisions limiting terms apply solely to the President and Governor roles, leaving room for local leaders to contest multiple terms.
