In a bid to ensure the timely completion of the Agboyi Recreational Centre project, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Kosofe, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, undertook an inspection of the ongoing construction works yesterday.
Accompanied by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Fatai Ganiu, among others, Mayor Dele Oshinowo visited the construction site situated in the ancient town of Agboyi 2. The aim of the visit was to ascertain the progress of the project, which is a key initiative of the present administration.
According to Opeyemi Azeez, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, the Agboyi Recreational Centre is part of the ambitious plan to construct three recreational centers in the area. Once completed, it will be the first of its kind executed by a grassroots government in the country.
The recreational center is set to feature artificial grass, spectator stands, seats, and floodlights, providing much-needed illumination for activities during dark hours. Mayor Dele Oshinowo emphasized that despite the current slow pace of work, the project remains on track for completion as promised.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by the complex topography of the ancient town, Mayor Dele Oshinowo highlighted the difficulties encountered during the movement of sharp sand to fill the pitch. He revealed that the construction exercise will require close to 300 trucks of 20 tonnes each.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo urged residents of the ancient community to continue supporting his administration, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in achieving developmental goals.
As work progresses on the Agboyi Recreational Centre, Mayor Dele Oshinowo reaffirmed his commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art facility that will benefit the local community for years to come.
