Mr. Mutiu Afolabi Kalejaiye, the Special Adviser on Youths Affairs to the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has announced his intention to contest the chairmanship seat in the 2025 local government election.
Speaking at a media interaction with a correspondent from Kosofe Post at his residence in Agboyi town, Kalejaiye expressed confidence in his ability to lead the council with the support of party leaders.
“I believe I am capable and I don’t think I lack what it takes to contest for the chairmanship seat,” stated Kalejaiye. “Election should not be a do or die affair. Whether you win or lose, there are lessons to be learned and experiences to be gained.”
Highlighting his vision for the LCDA, Kalejaiye emphasized the importance of building on the foundation laid by his boss, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, particularly in revenue generation through database management.
“Oshinowo has initiated the database for revenue collection, but when fully implemented, it will enhance our revenue generation capabilities,” he explained. “Utilizing this database will also help eliminate corruption and touting at the local government level.”
Kalejaiye further disclosed that he had begun consultations at various levels within the LCDA, including with party leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, to garner support for his candidacy.
“I have begun consultations on a wider level, reaching out to GAC leaders, Apex leaders, and political leaders in the wards and zones,” he said. “I am also engaging with traditional leaders to seek their blessings and support for the 2025 local government election.”
Concluding his remarks, Kalejaiye expressed optimism about his candidacy and pledged to uphold the trust placed in him if given the party ticket.
“I believe that God will answer my prayer, and if I am given the party ticket, I won’t disappoint anybody,” he affirmed, signaling his commitment to serve the people of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA diligently if elected.
