Amidst a leadership vacuum in Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Kosofe, a social political group known as Bolkam allegedly stirred controversy by endorsing the outgoing chairman, Mrs. Samiat Bada. The endorsement, purportedly led by Ewuola Idowu, also known as Baba Oja, took a contentious turn as curses were reportedly cast upon residents opposing Bada’s return in a viral video.

In a swift rebuttal, Bolkam, represented by Olawale, distanced the group from the endorsement, attributing it to a political ploy orchestrated by the Mayoress of Ikosi Isheri. The group emphasized its commitment to inclusiveness and transparency for the community’s betterment, denouncing the alleged endorsement as misinformation perpetuated by suspended members.

Following the completion of Bada’s tenure, debates over her eligibility for re-election intensified, particularly after her declaration to run again, exploiting a loophole in local government administrative law. The resolution of this impasse hinges on urgent statements from Governor Advisory Council members Otunba Bushira Alebiosu and Omoba Ademuyiwa Sosanya.

However, the Lagos State House of Assembly could render the GAC’s stance inconsequential by enforcing a law limiting the tenure of officials succeeding their principals to one term, a bill signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
